Requirements

  • The application includes an ‘accessibility’ or ‘Help’ page.
  • Give help or advice on native accessibility features built into the device.

Full Explanation

An Accessibility page or ‘Help’ section will allow disabled users to check if any features are implemented on the application to enhance a user’s experience. This Accessibility/ Help section could help with options from resizing content to changing colours to suit an individual’s needs. Native features built-in to specific mobile devices will enhance the end-user experience for particular groups. The 'Help' section not only lists the exceptions that the app cannot meet but also provides ways in which users can utilise the native features of their mobile devices to overcome this barrier. This could include features such as:

  • VoiceOver – A screen reading facility on iOS which will allow blind/ visually impaired users to hear content read out.
  • Zoom – This allows a user to enlarge content.
  • Inverting colours- For low vision and colour-blind users, change the interface to high contrast.
  • TalkBack - TalkBack is a screen reader that provides spoken feedback using native Android applications.
